Our commitment is your success. Because we believe that by succeeding together, we can build trusted long-term business relationships. And those are the kind we thrive on.
Since NAVUM GmbH first started up, back in 2008, we’ve seen solid, steady growth. We’ve expanded quickly, from a small-scale IT services business into a highly capable systems house, with a portfolio of services that’s right up there with large organizations.
However, we’re still very much in touch with our roots – hence our passion for providing a personalized service and giving clients the best possible strategic advice: We’re only happy when you are.
With 12 years plus of experience to draw on, we’re more than equipped to service clients of any size, from SMEs all the way up to major companies and public-sector organizations.
We currently have around 50 IT professionals working on a range of projects. Each and every one of them has specialist knowledge that contributes to and expands NAVUM’s collective corporate expertise.
This helps keep us successful going forward, together with our clients and partners.
Our success is down to our exceptional people – the dedicated individuals at the forefront of delivering client projects, or hard at work behind the scenes, making sure everything else runs smoothly – and, of course, our management team: founder and Managing Director Eugen Mang, Managing Director Andreas Kopfmiller, and senior corporate officer and key account manager Martin Leppelt.
It all began with one man’s vision: Eugen Mang wanted to build a business that offered clients exceptional service and, at the same time, create a workplace with a people-first culture. The company remains true to these principles to this day. This is our story:
We set the course for paperless office in 2021 and are starting the new year with the changeover to digital receipt booking.
We see further development in the area of information security as a great opportunity for us, but also as a challenge. To further optimise we are working on our Information Security Management System (ISMS) with the aim of achieving ISO27001 certification.
This year, 2 new apprenticeship positions are to be filled. Job ads have been published and interviews with applicants are already taking place.
Social commitment and environmentally conscious actions are matters close to our heart and we continually strive to improve both.
We look back on many years of German-French partnerships. Therefore we are especially pleased to now present our website in French.
Building an excellent workforce from the ground up is our focus. With a total of 3 apprentices, we have been able to achieve our own goals this year.
IT security has always been a top priority for NAVUM. In 2021 we have created a separate position for this task and filled it with a new employee.
The pandemic situation continues to keep us on our toes. In addition to the few face-to-face meetings, we try to promote personal exchange with virtual events at the end of the working day.
We go live with our new website and new customer portal in spring.
Corona is leaving a deep mark on business worldwide. Starting March, almost all NAVUM employees will be working from their home offices. We are happy to be able to provide our services in full.
Despite the pandemic, we look back on a satisfactory business year and are able to prove ourselves as a stable employer even in times of crisis.
At the end of the year, we win two major projects in the research & teaching industry.
Thanks to the clients and business partners who believe in us and to the diligence, dedication and excellence of our workforce (now more than 50 strong), our annual revenue exceeds EUR 11 million for the first time, in our strongest year to date.
We celebrate our tenth anniversary. Looking back, the company has successfully delivered more than 200 projects for a base of over 25 loyal clients, and built a team of 45 employees who thrive on their work.
We set up an operations and service team to monitor multiple clients’ IT environments and handle administrative tasks using NAVmon.
More and more local SMEs notice us and inquire about IT solutions and professional support. We develop initial plans to set up a cross-client operations and service team.
We create NAVmon, a proprietary tool to monitor clients’ heterogeneous system environments.
Another key milestone: NAVUM’s customer portal goes live. This gives clients anytime online access to the latest service and maintenance status.
We sign up to a second Franco-German partnership to support smooth transnational client operations.
And Andreas Kopfmiller becomes a NAVUM shareholder.
As the workforce expands to 30, office space starts to get tight again. We head for new shores – literally – moving from Lake Ammersee to Lake Wörthsee.
We sign up to our first Franco-German partnership covering transnational data center operations.
NAVUM ZN, our first proprietary software tool, launches after several months in development. It’s used in-house for task and project time management. This marks the first milestone in software development at NAVUM.
Another strong year concludes with a major consulting contract win from a well-known bank.
Annual revenue hits EUR 6 million.
NAVUM gets a new website.
The employment market is tight, and demand for skilled IT workers remains high. We form strategic partnerships and bring in a growing number of outside staff to work on our projects.
One of the year’s high-profile contracts is to consult for a large chemicals business on the tender for a storage environment. We also begin operating a ZFS storage platform for a media company.
As we continue to grow, the workforce expands to more than 25 people.
New deals are inked with clients and vendors, helping to sustain our success.
A major telecoms provider hires us for our IT expertise.
With workloads rising, it’s time for an internal reorg, and Andreas Kopfmiller is appointed Chief Operating Officer.
We win a major white-goods manufacturer as a new client, who hires us to provide support for UNIX and storage systems. This signals the start of a close business relationship that continues to this day.
We also have our first business win in the academic sector: We’re contracted to plan and deliver a security model for a tsunami early warning system in Jakarta, Indonesia.
We get an urgent call for help: a request for expert support with the operation of a large-scale SAN and storage environment. In the space of just a few months, we have a team of six assigned to the project, which is for an organization we still work for today.
The time comes for our first move to larger premises: the basement offices are too small for a staff of 18. NAVUM’s new home is a former brewery in Stegen, on the shores of Lake Ammersee.
Eugen Mang founds the systems house NAVUM GmbH on April 11, 2008. Like any self-respecting infotech startup, it begins life small, in the basement of a residential building.
By the summer, NAVUM’s headcount has grown to nine, as initial project wins from the aerospace and banking sectors help the business to burgeon.
The company successfully completes its founding year with around EUR 1.26 million in revenue.
